My Carving Whakatauki (proverb)
Welcome to KIWI STONE!

Featured here are some of my stone carvings.

All are made from New Zealand stone (unless otherwise stated) and have been made on the West Coast of Aotearoa, New Zealand, heart of 'JADE COUNTRY'.

Contact me kutarere@yahoo.com to order or inquire. If an item seen here is not available I will endeavour to provide suitable copy or alternative.

While at Tai Poutini we learned the whakatauki "AHAKOA HE ITI HE POUNAMU" which translates to mean 'Although it is small, it is pounamu' and speaks to the value of something given is not in the size but the heartfelt thought behind it.

Since 'becoming a carver' I have adopted the following whakatauki for myself- "Kaore te kumara e korero mo tona ake reka."

Stone carving is a fraternity of like-minded people and all have been captivated by the medium they work (or 'bitten by the stone bug'?)

I recommend you visit their Facebook page here and see what the new generation of stone carvers are doing and have to say, and also find links to other jade carvers around the world.
